Political streamer Hasan Piker argued in an interview Thursday that the U.S. military commits more terrorism than Al Qaeda.
Challenged on The Axios Show over calling America the top dog in terrorism, Piker cited global casualties.
Defending his claim, Piker stated, “Pound for pound as far as the number of deaths, yes”.
Elaborating on foreign policy, Piker stated, “We have caused tremendous terror all around the world”.
Piker cited an accidental missile strike on an Iranian school that killed 175 people on Feb. 28.
Addressing the strike, Piker stated, “If you’re killing 140 schoolgirls, that is an act of terror”.
Clarifying his stance, Piker stated, “This doesn’t mean that all Americans are terrorists, but the reality of the matter is we have to create an environment of accountability to ensure things like that never happen again”.
His remarks recall his 2019 claim that America deserved 9/11, a stance he partially walked back.
Nearly 3,000 people died on Sept. 11, 2001, in Al Qaeda attacks.
Michigan Democratic Senate candidate Abdul El-Sayed quickly distanced his campaign.
Rejecting the statement, El-Sayed stated, “I do not agree with this statement, nor do I give much weight to the statements made by a social media streamer”.
Pivoting to economics, El-Sayed stated, “I am more concerned with the dangerous policies of Donald Trump and Mike Rogers that are raising the prices of gas, groceries and healthcare for Michiganders”.
Defending past outreach, El-Sayed stated, “The reason I talk to Hasan isn’t because of Hasan, it’s because of the 3 million people who pay attention to what he has to say”.
Addressing engagement, El-Sayed stated, “Too often the way that our politics happen is that we’re told who we cannot talk to”.
The Michigan Senate race remains tight, with El-Sayed holding a 1.8 point lead.
