Federal investigators are examining two violent attacks near Oceanside Pier involving three men identifying as skinheads.
An unsealed FBI search warrant details the June 2025 incidents, which targeted a local Asian American man and two off-duty Marines.
According to the warrant, the first victim was a 21-year-old man who was beaten and had his head slammed into a concrete wall after being confronted by men yelling racial slurs.
One attacker reportedly challenged the couple by shouting, “Didn’t you hear my friend talking to you? Don’t you know who we are? We’re skinheads”.
The assault left the victim with severe head trauma, resulting in weeks of memory loss where he could not recall common household objects or family names, per NBC 7 San Diego.
Minutes later, the same suspects allegedly encountered two Camp Pendleton Marines and shouted racial slurs, according to the San Diego Union-Tribune.
Surveillance footage reviewed by investigators reportedly shows the suspects attacking the Marines without provocation, despite the men claiming they acted in self-defense.
FBI agents asserted in the warrant that the suspects hold white supremacist beliefs and are allegedly members of a gang based in Riverside County.
While no official charges have been filed, the federal investigation is pursuing pending charges of hate crimes and violent interference with civil rights.
Investigators are currently seeking cellphone data and location records to establish if the suspects coordinated the attacks or had prior contact with the victims.
