Table-toppers Swansea City welcome an in-form West Ham side to South Wales on Saturday, with the Hammers looking to close the gap at the summit.

Swansea, who beat Millwall 1-0 on Tuesday night thanks to a 90th-minute winner from Ronald, will look to make it five consecutive wins when they face the Hammers.

The visitors are also in fine form and come into the fixture off a dominant 6-0 away win against Lincoln City. A Saturday win would extend their unbeaten run to nine matches.

Swansea boast the best defensive record in the Championship this season, only conceding seven, while West Ham have been the division’s most prolific side in front of goal, scoring 29 in just 10 games.

It has been almost 10 years since the two sides last met, with their last meeting coming in 2018 in the Premier League, when Swansea won 4-1 at home.

Despite their recent form, the home side will be without several players for Saturday’s clash.

Stephen Eustáquio has returned to training but will be assessed ahead of the game, Swans head coach Vítor Matos confirmed. Josh Key and Cameron Burgess remain sidelined, while Filip Lissah will miss out through suspension, leaving Matos to assess his options at right-back.

Nuno spoke to the press ahead of Saturday and confirmed players will be assessed.

“After a game, there are always things to assess, especially when there is such a quick turnaround between matches.

“We’re still assessing the players who played [on Wednesday]. We’re going to work now, and then we’ll see about any problems we may or may not have.”

Tomáš Souček has made an immediate impact since returning from the injury he sustained at the World Cup, scoring twice in midweek against Lincoln.

West Ham’s only known doubt is 22-year-old Keiber Lamadrid, who missed Wednesday’s fixture with a knee injury.

If the Hammers were to pick up three points on Saturday, they would close the gap on the Swans to just one point. By contrast, a victory for the home side would see them extend their lead to seven points and remain top of the table.
