SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. (Next Stamina) – San Francisco District Attorney Brooke Jenkins announced that her office secured a jury conviction of 33-year-old Aljerone Green for animal cruelty following an incident involving a small dog.
The conviction stems from an investigation into a September 18, 2025, incident where Green was filmed repeatedly kicking a neighbor’s pet.
“I would like to thank the jury for their service in this trial,” District Attorney Brooke Jenkins stated. Jenkins added that violence against “defenseless little animals will not be tolerated” and credited San Francisco Animal Care and Control for the investigation.
Evidence presented during the trial showed that the incident occurred at a single-room occupancy (SRO) building on the unit block of Mason Street. Video surveillance captured Green opening his apartment door to observe a small black and brown Papillion mix barking in the hallway.
After staring at the dog for approximately 90 seconds, Green briefly entered his apartment and returned to throw a cutting board at the animal. Court testimony indicated the dog cowered against its owner’s door while Green yelled at it.
When the dog attempted to flee, Green chased the animal up and down the hallway. Officials stated that Green kicked the dog a total of 11 times, including several instances where the animal was kicked against a wall.
Assistant District Attorney Michael Foley prosecuted the case with support from investigator Teddy Martin and paralegals Raquel Paz and Nohemi Torres. The prosecution relied on evidence developed by San Francisco Animal Care and Control Officer Courtney Leiendecker.
“The jury made a just verdict and sent a clear message – animal cruelty is not tolerated in San Francisco,” Foley said. He described the animal as a “voiceless victim” and thanked the jury for providing justice.
San Francisco Animal Care and Control Captain Rebecca Fenson expressed satisfaction with the outcome, noting that it is “gratifying when people who abuse animals are held accountable.”
Green remains subject to the court’s sentencing following the jury’s verdict.
