WOODLAND, Calif. (Next Stamina) — The Yolo County District Attorney’s Office and Yolo County Animal Control are investigating a March 14 dog attack at Campbell Park that resulted in the death of a 14-year-old rescue dog, CBS Sacramento reported.
The incident occurred on a Saturday when Tom Bowler was finishing a walk with his dog, Petey. According to Bowler, a loose dog described as a pit bull ran from the garage of a neighboring home and attacked.
“I did everything I could to save him. I still feel some guilt,” Bowler told CBS Sacramento.
The Yolo County District Attorney’s Office confirmed the death was caused by an off-leash dog near the park.
In a statement regarding the incident, the District Attorney’s Office issued a reminder to the public to maintain control of pets, specifically those known to be aggressive.
The investigation remains active as authorities determine the specific charges to be filed against the owner of the loose animal.
