44-year-old man Guillermo Magallanes killed in East Los Angeles hit-and-run

A 44-year-old pedestrian identified as Guillermo Magallanes died late Monday night following a hit-and-run collision in East Los Angeles.

The incident occurred at the intersection of East Olympic Boulevard and South Arizona Avenue at approximately 11:02 p.m. while the victim was crossing the street.

Witnesses reported seeing individuals flee the vehicle on foot. “I saw the bumper flying off and the white car over there, they pulled over, and the driver got out and ran across the street,” witness Lin Hirayma said, CBS Los Angeles reported.

Los Angeles County Fire Department personnel pronounced the man dead at the scene after California Highway Patrol officers located him on the ground.

The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner confirmed the victim’s identity as Guillermo Magallanes on Tuesday.

The vehicle involved, described by witnesses as a white car, remained at the location while the occupants escaped. Investigators continue to search for the suspect driver and any other individuals who fled the vehicle.
