Jaylen Warren is making the most of his opportunity in the Pittsburgh Steelers‘ backfield, and head coach Mike McCarthy has taken notice.
Warren delivered a career-defining performance Sunday against the Indianapolis Colts, breaking off an 80-yard touchdown run in the first half before adding another touchdown on a 50-yard rush. He finished with 101 yards and a score on 15 carries, while also catching six passes for 87 yards and a receiving touchdown.
Warren became the first player in Steelers history to record both a receiving touchdown of at least 50 yards and a rushing touchdown of at least 50 yards in the same game.

“He’s the man. He’s hauling it right now for us,” McCarthy said in the postgame press conference. “He’s produced. It’s been heavy.”
Warren credited the chemistry he has developed with his teammates for helping fuel his recent success.
“The camaraderie we’ve built over the past couple weeks, it really shows on Sunday for me,” Warren said.
Warren also downplayed the significance of reaching the 100-yard mark, emphasizing the importance of getting a win. He credited Pittsburgh’s offensive line for creating opportunities in the running game.
The performance also reinforced the confidence Warren has long held in his abilities.
“I’ve always believed in myself,” Warren said. “Whatever tier that puts me in, it’s credit to my O-line.”
Warren’s historic outing added another milestone to an afternoon in which he made an impact both on the ground and through the air. While his two long rushing scores showcased his explosiveness, his production as a receiver gave the Steelers another dimension offensively.
With another productive performance behind him, Warren continues to give Pittsburgh a reliable presence in the running game and a dangerous option in the passing game. His showing against Indianapolis made a strong case for keeping him at the center of the Steelers’ offensive plans.
