Fantasy Football Early Week 6 Waiver Wire: Woody Marks, Brenton Strange among top pickups

We’re entering our first big bye week in Week 6 with the Bengals, Vikings, Lions and Dolphins not playing. That means there should be more activity on the waiver wire in your fantasy football leagues. If you’re looking for injury replacements or some depth to withstand the potential players on bye, we’re here to offer some options off the wire.

Let’s get into it.

Usually, we reserve waiver wire adds for players who are sub-50% rostered on Yahoo. We’re willing to make an exception with Marks, who isn’t far off that mark. Houston lost RB David Montgomery to a groin injury in its win over the Titans on Sunday. Marks had already been slowly eating into Montgomery’s backfield share over the past few weeks. This could be the nail in the coffin for Monty as the lead RB in Houston.

Marks rushed for 62 yards on 15 carries while also adding four catches for 23 yards to finish with 10.5 fantasy points. It wasn’t the type of game you want in a 26-3 win from Marks but the volume is clearly there. Other than Montgomery, Marks was the only RB to get a touch for Houston in Week 5.

If Monty is sidelined next week in London against the Jaguars, Marks is a good RB3/flex play with RB2 upside considering he’ll command most of the touches out of the backfield.

Pittsburgh’s offense has been one of the many surprises so far in 2026. Aaron Rodgers looks rejuvenated and the Steelers just dropped 34 points on the Colts in Week 5. Roman Wilson was a trendy pickup-and-play for Sunday with Michael Pittman Jr. sidelined. Unfortunately, Wilson was forced to exit early with a hand/wrist injury and did not return.

With Wilson out, the target tree condensed even more and that helped the rookie Bernard carve out a bigger role. DK Metcalf was quiet but Bernard finished with a 6-80-0 line on nine targets. If Wilson is now sidelined along with Pittman, Bernard should see more snaps and targets from Rodgers. He’s a strong add in deeper PPR formats if you need some WR depth. TE Pat Freiermuth (15%) is also worth a mention (5-44-2) after posting a likely TE1 finish in Week 5 with 19 fantasy points.

The Jaguars pulled off a miracle win over the Eagles in London to start the Sunday slate. QB Trevor Lawrence was busy throwing the ball and Strange had another solid outing with seven catches on eight targets for 68 yards. It was the second straight week the tight end got to eight targets, more than he had combined through the first three games. There’s been plenty of jockeying in the receiver ranks for Jacksonville; six players had multiple catches against Philly. But Strange is turning into a reliable TE2 option with upside if he starts to find the end zone. He’s a decent streamer this week with four teams on bye.
