Major League Baseball has officially announced the finalists for the 2024 Silver Slugger Awards, highlighting the most productive offensive performers from the recent season. Among the notable selections, “Two Red Sox Named Finalists for MLB’s Silver Slugger Award” as the organization looks to celebrate individual excellence on the diamond. The recognition serves as a testament to the offensive contributions provided by the Boston roster throughout a challenging campaign.
Third baseman Rafael Devers continues to solidify his reputation as one of the premier power hitters in the American League. Throughout the 2024 season, Devers maintained a consistent presence in the heart of the Red Sox lineup, providing both power and reliability at the hot corner. His ability to drive in runs and maintain a high offensive output has made him a perennial contender for league-wide honors, and this latest nomination reflects his sustained impact on the team’s overall performance.
Joining Devers in the finalist group is outfielder Jarren Duran, who enjoyed a breakout season that significantly elevated his profile across the league. Duran showcased a dynamic skill set, combining impressive speed on the basepaths with a newfound ability to drive the ball into the gaps. His performance throughout the summer proved vital for the Red Sox, as he consistently ignited rallies and provided energy for the team during critical stretches of the schedule. The inclusion of Duran among the finalists marks a significant milestone in his professional career.
The Silver Slugger Awards are determined by a vote of MLB managers and coaches, who select the best offensive players at each position in both the American and National Leagues. Voters consider a variety of offensive statistics, including batting average, on-base percentage, and slugging percentage, to identify the most effective hitters. The winners of this year’s awards are scheduled to be announced in the coming weeks. For the Boston organization, having two players recognized as finalists underscores the depth of talent within the clubhouse and provides a positive note to conclude the current baseball calendar. Fans and analysts alike are now waiting to see if these standout performers will secure the hardware when the final results are revealed by the league office.
