Former New York Giants wide receiver Darius Slayton has been released by the Indianapolis Colts, the team announced Friday morning.
After seven seasons with the Giants, the 2019 fifth-round selection, was released by the team a week before the season began.
Slayton signed with the Colts, where his former Giants teammate Daniel Jones is the starting quarterback, on Sept. 22. Indianapolis had hoped Slayton could provide a deep threat after an injury to Alec Pierce. That never materialized. The 29-year-old never played a snap for the Colts.
Slayton suffered a knee injury that kept him out of the Colts’ lineup in Week 5. Now, he is again looking for a new team.

Slayton caught 296 passes for 4,435 yards in seven seasons with the Giants. He was slowed last season, when he had 37 catches for 538 yards, by double sports hernias for which he had surgery in the offseason.
