Tennessee football will wear orange jerseys as part part of a special technicolor uniform matchup with Alabama at Neyland Stadium.

The Vols will wear white helmets and pants and orange tops while Alabama wears crimson helmets and jerseys and white pants.

The orange and crimson uniforms are part of a two year agreement between both programs and the SEC to wear home uniforms for the Third Saturday in October in each of the next two seasons.

The No. 14 Vols (5-1, 2-1 SEC) host No. 7 Alabama (5-1, 2-1) at Neyland Stadium on Oct. 17 (3:30 p.m. ET, ABC).

What is Tennessee’s record in each uniform combination during the 2026 season?

Tennessee is 2-1 in their traditional home uniforms of white helmets and pants, and orange jerseys so far this season. The Vols routed Furman 56-9 win in on Sept. 5 and beat Kennesaw State 42-9 on Sept. 19, both games at Neyland Stadium. They also suffered a 20-17 loss to No. 1 Texas on Sept. 26 while wearing the usual home uniform.

UT has worn white helmets, uniforms and pants twice this season and won both times, first at Georgia Tech on Sept. 12 and again on Oct. 10 at Arkansas. It won two of four games in the all-white combination in 2025, notching wins over Kentucky and Florida but losing to Alabama and Illinois.

The Vols are also a perfect 5-0 in grey uniforms since 2022, with the latest win coming on Oct. 3 at home vs. Auburn. They also beat LSU 40-13 in 2022, Austin Peay 30-13 in 2023, Chattanooga 69-3 in 2024 and New Mexico State 42-9 in 2025 while wearing different editions of the “Smokey Grey” uniforms.

What alternate uniforms will Tennessee wear this season?

The Vols wore alternate uniforms for the first time this season vs. Auburn, when they honored the iconic coach Gen. Robert Neyland with their grey “Neyland Legacy” uniforms.

The special, throwback flare Tennessee is bringing to the Third Saturday in October this year isn’t necessarily an alternate uniform, but this year’s game will be the first color-on-color clash between the two rivals since 1970.

The Vols also have their “dark mode” all black uniforms available for a later date. They are 5-2 when wearing black alternate uniforms since 2009. The last time UT wore black football uniforms, they lost 33-27 to Oklahoma at Neyland Stadium on Nov. 1, 2025.
