NFL MVP odds entering Week 6: Jahmyr Gibbs deserves more love

Quarterbacks continue to dominate the latest NFL MVP odds, but Detroit Lions star Jahmyr Gibbs needs to be in the conversation. The NFC North running back has become a menace in 2026 after the Lions opted to let David Montgomery leave during free agency.

That’s led to Gibbs opening this season with over 700 rushing and receiving yards combined, in addition to nine touchdowns. Somehow, that’s only resulted in +4000 odds for the Lions standout as the NFL season shifts to Week 6.

Josh Allen remains the odds-on favorite to take home another MVP honor. The Buffalo Bills star helped his team win a Monday Night Football thriller against the Los Angeles Rams.

Meanwhile, Brock Purdy and Patrick Mahomes aren’t far behind with both their teams currently undefeated. The San Francisco 49ers and Kansas City Chiefs could very well be on a collision course for another Super Bowl meeting.

Best NFL MVP betting values

Brock Purdy was the NFL MVP favorite for just over 24 hours. Then Josh Allen took his spot back 😭It was a good run. https://t.co/gEpWnthKVs

The chances of a non-QB taking home the MVP have become very slim over the years. In fact, the last running back or wide receiver to win the award was former Minnesota Vikings star Adrian Peterson in 2012.

True value in this year’s MVP race certainly comes with some risk, but also major rewards. Gibbs presumably plays in one of the best offenses in football with the Lions alongside Goff. Both players are way behind in the latest odds, but are putting up huge numbers this season and shouldn’t be overlooked.

However, the most promising odds out of any player might actually be Carolina Panthers QB Bryce Young. The Panthers were a playoff team last season, but Young’s playing significantly better than what he’s showed during any of his previous campaigns. That includes throwing nine touchdowns to just two interceptions.
