Mike Evans made sure that the San Francisco 49ers remained spotless in Week 5, helping the team beat the Seattle Seahawks, 32-29, at Lumen Field on Sunday.
He also made sure that he knew the person he was talking smack to.
Evans had seven catches for 113 yards and one touchdown, as the 49ers improved to 5-0. The 33-year-old wide receiver went viral after his hilarious altercation with Trevon Diggs in the second quarter. As they were talking trash, Evans grabbed Diggs’ jersey to check the name on the back.

In the postgame conference, Evans claimed that he was genuinely unsure who he was chatting with.
“I didn’t know it was him at first. I’ve played against him a few times, and we’ve always been cool. He’s a good player,” said the one-time champion.
“I honestly didn’t know it was him. Because in the helmet, it’s hard to tell sometimes. We were just talking trash. I think I pushed him, and then I was like, ‘Who are you?’ I looked and made sure. ‘Oh, it’s f****** Diggs.’ Then he pushed me. That should’ve been a penalty. But it is what it is.”

The 28-year-old Diggs is in his first season with the Seahawks.
Evans was instrumental in moving the ball in their final drive, setting up Eddie Pineiro’s game-winning 43-yard field goal.
