When is Lamar Jackson coming back to the Ravens?

For all intents and purposes, the Baltimore Ravens‘ dream of winning the Super Bowl is definitely still on the table. But for the time being, they have to unfortunately weather an ankle injury to two-time MVP quarterback Lamar Jackson.

Jackson had to leave Week 4’s win over the Tennessee Titans early with the injury. As it would later turn out, the Ravens revealed he had an ankle sprain that isn’t considered serious and/or of a long-term variety. That’s the good news. The bad news is that Jackson will miss, at minimum, Sunday night’s road primetime matchup with the Atlanta Falcons. Given how good the Falcons have looked lately, it might be tough sledding for the Ravens to win without their best player.

However, I’m sure the Ravens will take that deal 10 times out of 10 if it means Jackson will return to the starting lineup very soon:

As for when Jackson could come back, the Ravens have characterized his injury as week-to-week. That means, theoretically, we could see him in Week 6 when Baltimore visits one of its AFC North rivals, the Cleveland Browns. That would give Jackson approximately two weeks of rest for his ankle. If the Ravens elect to be a bit more cautious with Jackson, a home game against another AFC North team, the Cincinnati Bengals, feels more likely.

I highly doubt Jackson’s absence extends any further and would venture to guess that the Ravens will be ready to have him back for those two upcoming important divisional games, barring a setback in his recovery.

Who is Lamar Jackson’s backup on the Ravens?

Tyler Huntley is Jackson’s backup, as listed on the Ravens’ official depth chart. He has provided spot starts over the years as the Ravens’ backup quarterback for most of the Jackson era.
