Tarik Skubal was tasked with being the Los Angeles Dodgers‘ Game 1 starter for the National League Championship Series against the Milwaukee Brewers on Sunday, Oct. 11.

Skubal’s outing was successful for the Dodgers at American Family Field in Milwaukee.

The two-time Cy Young Award winner was brought to Los Angeles with the intention of having him strengthen the pitching depth and rotation for the postseason.

He was acquired by the Dodgers in a blockbuster trade with the Detroit Tigers in early August, sending outfielder Zyhir Hope and right-handed pitchers River Ryan and Brady Smith to Detroit.

Skubal allowed his first hit in Game 1 to right-handed hitter Andrew Vaughn in the bottom of the second inning. Vaughn was eventually left stranded at third base after Skubal struck out Cooper Pratt.

Skubal was dominant to start, striking out six batters through the first three innings. Dodgers manager Dave Roberts replaced Skubal with Alex Vesia to start the bottom of the sixth inning.

Brewers manager Pat Murphy chose to insert Vaughn into the lineup as the designated hitter instead of Christian Yelich, a left-handed batter for the Brewers. The decision was influenced by Vaughn’s success against left-handed pitchers such as Skubal.

Here’s how Skubal fared in NLCS Game 1 win over the Brewers:
