The Eagles head to London with a reshuffled offensive line, a depleted backfield, and several new additions who could contribute immediately against the Jaguars. Philadelphia signed center Jake Majors and running back Carson Steele to the active roster Friday, two days after promoting Dameon Pierce. Those moves followed Lane Johnson’s retirement, the trade sending Cam Jurgens to Baltimore, and Tank Bigsby’s placement on injured reserve. Andy Dalton’s release also left Jalen Hurts with two backups.
At 2-2 after two straight losses, the Eagles need their remaining starters and young replacements to hold up against Jacksonville. Here is a position-by-position look at the active roster and practice squad entering Sunday’s Week 5 matchup at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
Quarterbacks: Jalen Hurts leads a three-player room
Active roster: Jalen Hurts, Tanner McKee, Cole Payton.
Hurts has completed 59.6% of his passes for 713 yards, seven touchdowns, and three interceptions. He also has 105 rushing yards and a rushing touchdown, but Philadelphia has allowed 12 sacks through four games.
Hurts was added to Friday’s injury report with a calf issue, practiced fully, and received no game designation. McKee and Payton are the remaining backups following Dalton’s release. With protection changing around him, Hurts needs to identify pressure quickly and avoid turning a difficult down into a lost possession.
Running backs: Will Shipley gets his opportunity
Active roster: Saquon Barkley, Will Shipley, Dameon Pierce, Carson Steele.
Practice squad: Jaydon Blue.
Barkley is out with a hamstring injury, while Bigsby is on injured reserve. Shipley enters with 51 rushing yards on 15 carries and four catches for 24 yards. Philadelphia signed Pierce and Steele to the active roster, rather than temporarily elevating them, giving it additional options behind him.
Wide receivers: Injuries put more on the supporting cast
Active roster: Marquise Brown, Darius Cooper, Britain Covey, Makai Lemon, Elijah Moore, DeVonta Smith, Dontayvion Wicks.
Practice squad: Erik Ezukanma, Xavier Gipson.
Smith is out with a hamstring injury, and Brown is out with an ankle injury. Wicks remained limited Friday because of a hamstring issue but received no game designation.
Wicks has 12 receptions for 197 yards and a touchdown. Cooper has made his opportunities count, scoring three touchdowns on five catches, while Lemon has 10 receptions for 65 yards. Philadelphia needs that group to create separation quickly and provide dependable answers when Jacksonville brings pressure. Ezukanma joined the practice squad Wednesday.
Tight ends: Dallas Goedert returns without a game designation
Active roster: Dallas Goedert, Johnny Mundt, E.J. Jenkins.
Practice squad: Zach Ertz, Josiah Deguara.
Goedert practiced fully on Friday following a knee injury and received no game designation. Jenkins also practiced fully after being added with a toe issue. Goedert has five catches for 81 yards and two touchdowns; Ertz has three catches for 22 yards from his previous appearances.
Goedert’s availability gives Hurts another established target and could help an offensive line that needs edge help. Ertz and Deguara were elevated for the Rams game, but those moves did not permanently put either player on the active roster. Grant Calcaterra and Eli Stowers remain on injured reserve.
Offensive tackles: Markel Bell takes over after Lane Johnson’s retirement
Active roster: Jordan Mailata, Markel Bell, Fred Johnson.
Practice squad tackles: John Ojukwu. Kiran Amegadjie also provides offensive line depth.
Bell, the third-round rookie from Miami, moves forward as Philadelphia’s right tackle after Lane Johnson’s retirement. Mailata remains the veteran anchor on the left side, while Fred Johnson practiced fully Friday following a knee injury and received no game designation.
Josh Hines-Allen and Travon Walker make this assignment demanding. Philadelphia can help Bell with tight-end chips, protection slides, and quicker throws, but it also needs him to communicate clearly when Jacksonville moves rushers or attacks the gap next to him.
Interior offensive line: Jake Majors could start at center
Active roster: Drew Kendall, Willie Lampkin, Jake Majors, Micah Morris, Tyler Steen.
Practice squad interior depth: James Brockermeyer, Kiran Amegadjie.
Kendall is out with a knee injury, and Landon Dickerson remains on injured reserve. The team’s Saturday preview identified Majors as the player taking first-team center reps and projected a potential starting line of Mailata, Lampkin, Majors, Steen and Bell. That places Lampkin at left guard, rather than assuming he will replace Kendall at center.
Jurgens is now a Raven. Philadelphia sent him and a 2027 seventh-round pick to Baltimore for a 2027 fifth-round pick and a 2028 second-round pick. The immediate concern is getting the new interior combination aligned on protections and creating enough movement to support Shipley. Majors’ promotion and Brockermeyer’s practice squad signing address depth, but the new group still needs to establish continuity.
Defensive tackles: Philadelphia needs its established core to respond
Active roster: Jalen Carter, Jordan Davis, Moro Ojomo, Ty Robinson, Byron Young.
Practice squad: Gabe Hall.
Davis has 16 tackles, Ojomo has 12, and Carter has eight tackles and a sack. Philadelphia needs this group to control the interior without allowing Trevor Lawrence comfortable throwing lanes.
Winning inside would help the Eagles keep Jacksonville’s running game from creating manageable third downs. Carter and Ojomo also need to provide pressure that limits Lawrence’s ability to step forward when the edge rush arrives. Uar Bernard was placed on the practice squad injured list Friday and is separate from the available rotation.
Edge rushers: Jonathan Greenard’s status bears watching
Active roster: Jonathan Greenard, Jalyx Hunt, Nolan Smith Jr., Arnold Ebiketie, A.J. Epenesa.
Practice squad: Keyshawn James-Newby, Mason Reiger, Joshua Weru.
Greenard is questionable with an ankle injury after missing all three practices. Epenesa was added Friday with a back issue, practiced in limited capacity, and received no game designation.
Smith leads the Eagles with two sacks. If Greenard cannot play, Philadelphia will need more from its remaining edge rotation. Keeping Lawrence inside the pocket matters as much as getting close to him; a missed contain assignment can turn a promising pressure into an extended play.
Linebackers: Zack Baun clears concussion protocol
Active roster: Zack Baun, Jihaad Campbell, Smael Mondon Jr., Jeremiah Trotter Jr.
Baun cleared concussion protocol, according to the team’s Saturday preview. Campbell also practiced fully on Friday after working through a knee injury. Neither received a game designation.
Campbell leads Philadelphia with 37 tackles, while Baun has 25 and Trotter has 19. Their responsibilities will include fitting the run and handling underneath targets without losing track of Lawrence when he extends a play. Anfernee Orji was released from the practice squad Tuesday.
Cornerbacks and defensive backs: Quinyon Mitchell is available
Active roster: Quinyon Mitchell, Riq Woolen, Cooper DeJean, Michael Carter II, Jonathan Jones, Kenny Moore II, Kelee Ringo, Mac McWilliams.
Practice squad: Shaun Wade.
Mitchell practiced Thursday and Friday fully after a knee injury and received no game designation. DeJean has an interception and 23 tackles, giving Philadelphia a productive defender who can affect several areas of the formation.
Safeties: Marcus Epps’ absence tests the available depth
Active roster: Andrew Mukuba, Marcus Epps.
Practice squad: Cole Wisniewski.
Epps is out with a groin injury. Mukuba has 20 tackles and an interception, but losing Epps leaves Philadelphia with only one player listed specifically at safety on its active roster.
Specialists: Jake Elliott and Braden Mann can help with field position
Active roster: Jake Elliott, Braden Mann, Rocco Underwood.
Elliott is 4-for-4 on field goals, including both attempts from 50 yards or longer. Mann has averaged 49 yards on 19 punts, placing 10 inside the 20. Covey is averaging 13.5 yards on punt returns.
