Friday’s SEC availability report update has just one Florida football player remaining ahead of the Gators’ homecoming game against the South Carolina Gamecocks inside Ben Hill Griffin Stadium.
Wide receiver Vernell Brown III is listed as questionable — the same status he has had since the initial availability report was released on Wednesday. Brown suffered a low-grade knee strain in Florida’s Week 4 win over Ole Miss, which prevented the sophomore from playing in last week’s loss to Missouri.
“He is cleared to participate. It’s just a matter of — he’ll run today. He did not participate fully in practice today. He was out there at practice. He will do a running session with the athletic training staff,” head coach Jon Sumrall said earlier this week.
“At this point with him, it’s up to just his level of confidence in being able to do it, but he’s trending positively. What does that mean for Saturday? I don’t know yet. But he has the ability to run, but he’s just got to see how confident he is in cutting it loose.”

As for South Carolina, the Gamecocks expect eight players to miss this weekend’s action: defensive backs Jalewis Solomon and Quay’sheed Scott, edge defenders Kobby Sakyi-Prah and Julian Walker, offensive linemen Josiah Thompson and Carter Miller, wide receiver Jayden Sellers, and defensive lineman Gabriel Brownlow-Dindy, all of whom are listed as out.
Edge defender Dylan Stewart, who was suspended for one game following multiple incidents during last month’s game against Alabama, is cleared to play.
The final update for Saturday’s SEC showdown will be released 90 minutes before kickoff (11:15 a.m. ET).
