Kratom industry engaged in multimillion lobbying effort to ban synthetic product while pushing natural version

The kratom industry has funneled millions of dollars into political action committees, candidate campaigns and other lobbying efforts aimed at blocking across-the-board bans of all products containing the opioid-like supplements and, instead, encourage lawmakers to crack down on its synthetic competitors, records show.
