The Cleveland Browns are dealing with some injuries to the defensive tackle position and are without two of their top guys this weekend as they hit the road to take on the New York Jets. Three guys have been ruled out at the position, with Mike Hall Jr. and Mason Graham missing the game, as well as Kalia Davis, who is still on injured reserve.
To mitigate this, the team is calling up two veterans from the practice squad for this game.
Veteran defensive tackles Sam Kamara and Chris Williams have been elevated to the active roster, and more likely than not, the team will need both of them to play snaps along with Maliek Collins. Kamara has appeared in 18 games for the Browns over the last four seasons and brings the versatility to play both defensive tackle and line up and give you snaps at defensive end.
Chris Williams was added to the practice squad earlier this week in order to add depth in case this exact situation with Mike Hall and Mason Graham played out. He struggles against the run game, but he has provided some pass-rush juice during his career and could get some reps on later passing downs Sunday.
