MASSILLON − The Massillon Tigers’ “world tour” of a high school football schedule continues Friday night with a game against the Cornerstone Christian Warriors, from San Antonio, Texas.

The unbeaten Tigers already have defeated England-based NFL Academy, Buffalo-based Canisius and Canada-based Football North. Farrell (Pennsylvania) was under contract to play at Massillon last week but elected not to play. That game was ruled a forfeit victory for Massillon.

The Tigers entered the week with the status of six first-year transfer students uncertain of their eligibility pending a hearing in Stark County Common Pleas Court. Read below to see who is playing and what is happening in the pregame and during the game against Cornerstone.

Keeping an eye out to see which Massillon transfers are playing

Massillon’s depth chart is in a fluid situation as the season rushes toward the playoffs.

Four starters and a backup running back who has dazzled may or may not be eligible when the Tigers’ Week 10 game against McKinley rolls around.

Amid a court case that included a key session Friday, it was unclear which of the five would suit up against Cornerstone Christian, but it looked doubtful for the most conspicuous two, team tackles leader Brayon Feister and team sacks leader Brydon Feister.

OHSAA regulations allow certain first-year transfers to play for five games before having to sit out the remainder of the season and postseason.

Six players who transferred to Massillon this year were involved in the first five games but were cleared for the sixth game under a temporary restraining order.

The restraining order was extended to allow four of the six (one is a backup defensive back) to suit up against Cornerstone Christian, but the extension did not apply to the Feister brothers. They became the subject of a Common Pleas Court hearing Friday in which the court sided with the OHSAA. The new ruling, upholding the OHSAA’s ruling that the Feisters are done for the year.

Attorney Lee Plakas appealed Friday’s ruling to a district court hours before the Cornerstone Christian game.

Backup running back Gary Baxter, who ran for 232 yards in a recent win over Lakewood St. Edward, is eligible to play under the extension of the restraining order, which also applies to starting right tackle Micah Walker and starting tight end Da’Shaun Williams.

We’ll monitor warmups and report who winds up playing.
