The Syracuse Orange (2-2, 0-2) play their third consecutive road game on Saturday night when they face the Virginia Cavaliers (3-2, 1-1). Kickoff from Scott Stadium is 7:30 with the game on ACC Network. Here’s what we’re watching for in this one…
Kevin: Control the Script
Virginia wants to use their experienced offensive line to grind out opponents with the running game. If they can get ahead of the Orange, it could be a long night for the Syracuse back seven. On the other hand, should Syracuse be able to start strong it could force Virginia to do something it hasn’t done that well- throw the ball.
Dom: Capitalize offensively
Virginia’s offensive struggles coming off the FSU game will be in the spotlight, but its defense is still frisky and can make plays. UVA can have a terrible game scoring and still beat the Orange by controlling the clock, running the ball, and relying on Syracuse to shoot itself in the foot. Virginia is also going to be desperate, and considering the Orange’s current kicking woes, it’s even more critical that Syracuse converts in the end zone and puts Odom in the right situations to extend drives and be aggressive without being careless.

Mike: Keep Beau Uncomfortable
While controlling the ground game is the ultimately key to victory here, an overlooked part of that is making sure Beau Pribula doesn’t get any confidence back. He has to be shaken up some after taking 10(!) sacks at the hands of FSU last week, but this is still a quarterback who can scramble efficiently when needed. Bring the pressure early and keep Pribula skittish.
