Romeo Lavia was excellent for Belgium in this international break, playing two matches against France from the start and coming on as a sub in two other games.
He got a lot of praise after the first France game, and even more this week from Belgian pundits looking back at the break as a whole.
Romeo Lavia impresses for Belgium with consistent minutes

“Anyone with a Premier League subscription already knew it: Lavia is a phenomenon. One of the best midfielders in the world, provided he stays fit,” Hein Vanhaezebrouck said in Het Nieuwsblad in quotes translated by Sport Witness.
“I wonder what Chelsea thinks of the fact that he stayed on the pitch for 85 minutes twice. Usually, he is substituted after 65 minutes.
“But whenever he plays, it is ‘wow’. It is often said of Rodri that he dictates the tempo, never loses possession, and always plays forward. Is Lavia of exactly the same calibre?”
Sadly he’s not Rodri calibre – almost nobody is – but he’s still a very useful player, and the fact that he’s seemingly now close to being able to play a full match is great news for Chelsea, who are still without Moises Caicedo for the foreseeable future.
Saturday’s game is a big one for Lavia.
