This evening, Thursday 8 October, Sky Germany has reported that Hertha BSC have placed bans on people looking to vlog at home games.
The club itself officially announced that it will no longer tolerate the handling of commercially produced and monetized stadium vlogs:
“Stadium visits at Hertha BSC should above all be one thing: a shared football experience.
“Fans should be able to experience the games, the atmosphere, and the support for the team without the stadium events being accompanied by cameras for commercial content productions.”
However, private photo and video recordings for personal purposes will continue to be permitted by the club from the German capital.
As recently as last August, league rival Dynamo Dresden had banned commercial stadium vlogs – now it appears Hertha is following suit.
The basis for this, according to the club, is the applicable ticket and stadium regulations as well as the existing media and exploitation rights.
For Bundesliga and 2.Bundesliga games, the guidelines of the Bundesliga group on the individual use and exploitation of media marketing rights apply.
“As a club, Hertha BSC is itself subject to these guidelines when producing and publishing its own matchday content.
An independent commercial exploitation of matchday and stadium content by third parties can therefore not take place without the club’s corresponding consent,” it stated.
