The Dallas Cowboys will host the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Thursday Night Football, putting Dak Prescott in another challenging spot just four days after his team’s thrilling comeback victory over the Houston Texans. Prescott has historically been excellent when playing on exactly three days of rest, but that impressive record will be put to the test against Tampa Bay.

The #Cowboys host Bucs on short week. Dak Prescott has a 7-3 record (.700 win pct) on exactly 3 days of rest, the 4th-best record by any starting QB over the last 30 seasons (min. 10 starts), per ESPN Research. The list: Peyton Manning 9-1 (.900), Tom Brady 10-2 (.833), Joe Flacco 9-3 (.750), Dak Prescott 7-3 (.700).

Prescott owns a 7-3 record (.700 winning percentage) in starts on exactly three days of rest, which ranks fourth among starting quarterbacks over the last 30 seasons with at least 10 such starts.

Prescott’s 7-3 mark puts him in some impressive company. Only three quarterbacks have a better winning percentage in this situation over the last three decades.

The list is led by Peyton Manning, who went 9-1 (.900) in games on exactly three days of rest. Tom Brady follows at 10-2 (.833), while Joe Flacco posted a 9-3 (.750) record. Prescott’s 7-3 (.700) mark puts him fourth.

That history could matter for Dallas this week. The Cowboys are coming off one of their most exhausting games of the season, rallying from a double-digit deficit to defeat Houston 34-30. Prescott completed 32 of 45 passes for 335 yards in the comeback win, while CeeDee Lamb caught 17 for 189 yards, a career high.

The short turnaround gives Prescott very little time to recover from Sunday’s physical and emotional battle. Dallas has also dealt with a demanding early-season schedule, making Thursday night another test of the quarterback’s ability to perform without a full week of preparation.

Prescott, however, has already shown confidence heading into the matchup. He told the Cowboys’ official website that the team would be ready despite the short week.

Tampa Bay presents a different challenge than Houston. The Buccaneers have allowed just 204.3 passing yards per game through four weeks, although they have surrendered seven passing touchdowns.

With Dallas hosting Tampa Bay under the bright lights of Thursday Night Football, Prescott has another opportunity to add to his impressive short-rest résumé. A win would move him to 8-3 in these situations and give the Cowboys another important victory as they attempt to build momentum.
