Kortrijk to bring in ex RB Salzburg head coach
HLN are reporting that Kortijk will bring in ex RB Salzburg head coach Daniel Beichler to replace Michiel Jonckheere, who departed the club after a winless start. His replacement in the interim, Christoph Lepoint, was favoured to get the job on a full time basis, especially after the side won their first game of the season. However, a poor showing in the cup against lower league Heist saw the board change tact. They have now turned to former RB Sazlburg man Biechler, who himself had a tough time of things in Austria.
Beichler was only head coach of RB Salzburg for 14 games, losing seven of those. He won four and drew three of his other games as the side finished the season in third place. Ultimately that wasn’t good enough for RB Salzburg and Beichler was gone to start the 2026/2027 season. Beichler now joins a Kortrijk side that are set for a relegation battle having only just returned to the Pro League. However, there are a number of sides in a similar position to Kortrijk down at the bottom. If Beichler can bring in some fresh ideas and get some momentum going at the club, there is a chance that Kortrijk can have a successful and potentially stress free season.
