Downed in Dade: Reduced to 10 men for more than an hour, Sporting Club Jacksonville slumped to a fourth consecutive loss in USL Championship men’s soccer, beaten 4-1 by host Miami FC on Sept. 30 at Pitbull Stadium.

Exit for Edwards: Sporting Jax (3-19-5) lost central defender and team captain Ryan Edwards to a red card in the 29th minute, sent off by referee Amin Hadzic for taking down Miami’s Denilson Milanes.

Milanes on target: Forward Milanes, a 23-year-old born in Cuba, scored twice to bolster playoff hopes for Miami (8-10-9). He converted a 42nd-minute break from Alessandro Milesi’s assist and finding the net in the 85th minute after a setup from Matias Romero.

Quick free kicks: Jean Mota scored the Sporting Jax goal just before halftime, a close-range finish set up by Emil Jaaskelainen and Kieran Sadlier. โ€ฆ Arney Rocha, in the first half, and former Jacksonville University forward Mason Tunbridge, in the second, also scored for Miami. โ€ฆ Despite the numerical disadvantage, Sporting Jax managed 11 shots. โ€ฆ Sporting Jax also finished with yellow cards for Mota, Jordan Rossiter and substitutes Wahab Ackwei and Harvey Neville.

Up next: Sporting Jax returns home to meet Birmingham Legion FC at the University of North Florida’s Hodges Stadium at 5 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 10.
