The Green Bay Packers will have to move forward without Jayden Reed for the rest of the season, but they already have a short term plan in place. If that approach fails to provide enough production, Green Bay still has other options it can explore later in the year.
Packers head coach Matt LaFleur addressed the media on Wednesday, September 30, confirming that Jayden Reed could be sidelined for the rest of the season. LaFleur also revealed that Skyy Moore will take over Reed’s role as the Packers’ third wide receiver.
“Skyy Moore will be next man up this season for Jayden Reed. Matt LaFleur makes it clear Moore’s elevated role on offense, a reason Moore signed with #Packers this season, will not limit his usage in return game whatsoever,” NFL insider Ryan Wood wrote in his post on X (formerly Twitter).
Skyy Moore with the Green Bay Packers

Skyy Moore saw plenty of involvement in the Packers’ Week 3 loss to the Atlanta Falcons, drawing seven targets on Thursday Night Football. Only Matthew Golden with 12 and Christian Watson with 10 received more opportunities in the passing game. Moore finished the matchup with three receptions for 31 yards.
The Packers could lean even more heavily on Moore in the coming weeks following ESPN’s report that Jayden Reed will be placed on injured reserve on Wednesday.

Moore’s production has fallen off considerably since his first two seasons in Kansas City. The wide receiver totaled 43 catches during that initial stretch with the Chiefs, but he has added only 10 receptions over his last 26 games. Across five NFL seasons, Moore has also scored just one receiving touchdown.
