WNBA players are getting to the point this season.
The Indiana Fever‘s Sophie Cunningham โ who earned meme status earlier this season in a pointing standoff with DeWanna Bonner, a former Fever player then with the Phoenix Mercury โ observed the trend in a social media post after another pointing episode that, sort of, involved her.
In the fourth quarter of Game 2 of a playoff game on Tuesday, Sept. 29, A’ja Wilson of the Las Vegas Aces and Cunningham got tangled, and Cunningham was called for a foul. A fan sitting behind the baseline at Gainbridge Fieldhouse pointed at Wilson, believing she had committed the foul.
Wilson walked toward the fan, declaring, “You don’t point at me!”, sparking a brief confrontation.
Play was delayed and the fan briefly was taken away from the court. He talked to arena security and returned to his seat.
Sophie Cunningham calls 2026 a ‘comeback year for the point’
Cunningham commented on the previous night’s activity.
“Not trying to be dramatic โ at all. Like, seriously. I’m just here having my morning coffee and … what a damn comeback year for the point. Who would have ever thought … Just, who would have ever though,” she said with a chuckle.
Sophie Cunningham went on TikTok sipping coffee and mocking Aโja Wilsonโs incident with a Fever fan! 😭💀

Did DeWanna Bonner play for the Indiana Fever?
The Fever signed DeWanna Bonner and Sophie Cunningham before the 2025 season. Bonner played nine games before taking an extended absence. The Fever eventually released her, and she signed with the Mercury.
Bonner joined the Atlanta Dream late in the 2026 regular season, and they have advanced to the second round of the WNBA playoffs.
