Authorities in Louisiana launched a search for a person of interest following a stabbing spree that left four people dead Saturday night.
Deputies with the Terrebonne Parish Sheriff’s Office discovered multiple deceased victims inside residences near Ashland Drive in Houma.
A stabbed juvenile was rushed to a medical center and remains listed in critical condition.
Sheriff officials identified 47-year-old Kaegan Jude Solet as a person of interest connected to the attacks.
Records show Solet has been arrested multiple times over the past decade for stabbings without receiving a conviction.
Police charged Solet in January 2019 with the fatal stabbing of Kemple Paul Scott Lovell after finding him inside a shed.
Addressing the grand jury decision to drop charges against Solet, former First Assistant District Attorney Jason Dagate said, “Basically, the evidence we had that was presented to the grand jury wasn’t enough for them to come back with an indictment at this point and time.”
Explaining the outcome, Dagate said, “They made a decision to pretermit it, which means more information is needed to fully investigate.”
Expressing concurrence, Dagate added, “At this time we completely agree with the grand jury.”
In December 2019, Solet faced attempted murder charges after motel victim Cindy Boudreaux was found gasping, “don’t let me die.”
Jurors acquitted Solet of those charges in November 2023.
